LAST SEASON: The co-op between Parsippany Hills and Parsippany got off to a slow, 2-9 start to the year, before showing improvement down the stretch as it won four of its last eight games to finish 6-12-1. It did not qualify for the Haas Cup playoffs or the state tournament.
HEAD COACH: Anthony Egidio, third season.
CONFERENCE AND CLASSIFICATION: MCSSIHL-Haas Division; NJSIAA Public B.
KEY PLAYERS GRADUATED: Parsippany will have the tall task of replacing its top scorer in Alex Cavaluzzo, who finished with 24 goals and 14 assists last season and is now playing at William Paterson University. He finished his career with 94 goals and 68 assists for a total of 162 points, which is the most in program history.
FORWARDS: While it will have to replace one of the top players in program history in the aforementioned Cavaluzzo, Parsippany has a couple of players which will be counted on to produce. Those players include junior Jake Weiss, who notched four goals and nine assists in 2017-18, as well as senior Patrick Lanigan, who tallied two goals and five assists last year.
DEFENSE: Parsippany's blue line will once again be led by senior Frank Baccaro, who has proven to be a strong two-way defenseman. In addition to using his size and physical frame to battle with the opposition's top forwards, Baccaro was Parsippany's second-leading scorer behind Cavaluzzo last season (14 g., 11 a.). The squad will also look for contributions from a promising freshman in David Zilinskis.
GOALTENDING: Justin Wellman made every start for this team last season during his sophomore year, and will be counted on to do the same this year. The junior recorded an .892 save percentage in 2017-18.
OUTLOOK: Parsippany is coming off a difficult year last year, and certainly has question marks on offense after Cavaluzzo's graduation. But coach Anthony Egidio has made a commitment to building this program back up, and is looking for continued improvement from his squad on a daily basis. This group is hopeful that it can return to the Haas Cup playoffs this season, and if it can find a way to get some consistent production offensively, that is certainly possible.
