Feb. 28 recap: Morristown-Beard, Mendham earn shutouts in season finale

MORRISTOWN-BEARD 5, RANDOLPH 0
Cam Fernandez had a goal and three assists as Morristown-Beard earned a 5-0 win over Randolph in its final regular season game at Mennen Arena.
Noah Jones, who returned to the lineup after missing a few games, recorded a goal and an assist, while Jake Ochab also had a goal and an assist for Morristown-Beard (8-1-1). Tristan Long had two assists and Roman Berger also scored, while Luke McManus finished with an eight-save shutout.
Morristown-Beard finished the Mennen Division regular season with a perfect 6-0 mark, and has a bye going into the Mennen Cup final on Thursday night, where it will face the winner of Morris Knolls-Hills and Randolph.
Joe Yutsus made 34 saves for Randolph (2-2-1), which was playing its first game in exactly three weeks.
MENDHAM 2, MONTVILLE 0
Tristan Aikenhead and Gavin Marshuetz each scored for Mendham in a 2-0 win over Montville in the regular season finale at Mennen Arena.
Aikenhead gave Mendham the lead just 42 seconds into the second period, before Marshuetz scored a key insurance goal later on in the period. Tim Tamboowalla made 15 saves to pick up the first shutout of his varsity career.
Mendham finished the regular season with a 4-3-2 overall record, and will be the second seed in the Halvorsen Cup, which will begin Monday night with a match-up against third-seed Roxbury.
Montville finished the regular season with a 2-6-1 record and did not qualify for the Halvorsen Cup. Adrian Prelich made 27 saves in the loss.
