Feb. 24 recap: Vernon's Zimmerman gets 200th win; Morristown-Beard, Morris Catholic win

VERNON 8, WEST MORRIS 2

Vernon coach Ray Zimmerman picked up the 200th win of his career in an 8-2 win over West Morris at Mennen Arena.


Zimmerman, who has been at the helm of the Vernon program since its inception in 2004, holds a 200-181-26 career record in his 17 years.


Evan Steinbach scored four goals and had two assists for Vernon (7-3-2), which sits in second place in the Haas Division. Dylan Shea added two goals and three assists, while Ayden Steinbach had a goal and two assists. Devan England also scored, while Ozzie Deluca made 19 saves.


Michael Ferry and Max Michaelsen each scored for West Morris (0-11-1).


MORRISTOWN-BEARD 6, CHATHAM 0

Andrew Low scored two goals to lift Morristown-Beard to a 6-0 win over Chatham at Mennen Arena.


Seth Kaplan had a goal and two assists for Morristown-Beard (6-1-1), which moved into first place in the Mennen Division with an unbeaten 4-0-0 mark. It marked the first game of a grueling stretch for both teams, which will each play five league games in the next seven days in an effort to complete the regular season prior to the Mennen Cup.


Cam Fernandez had a goal and an assist, while Roman Berger and Hollis Humphries each found the back of the net. Sophomore Julian Melendez stopped all 23 shots he faced to secure his first career shutout in the first start of his varsity career.


MORRIS CATHOLIC 15, PARSIPPANY REGIONAL 1

Aldino Guadagnino had a hat trick and two assists as Morris Catholic picked up a 15-1 win over Parsippany Regional at Mennen Arena.


Nick Leyhan also had a hat trick for Morris Catholic (6-2), which clinched the Charette Division regular season title- and the top seed for the Charette Cup- in the win. Nick Pankowski tallied two goals and two assists, Averee Acuna had a goal and three assists, while Jack Armstrong tallied a goal and two assists. Daniel Mark, Evan Lord, Damian Mercedes, Nick DiGeronimo, and Hayden McGuigan each scored in the win.


David Zilinskis scored the lone goal for Parsippany Regional (0-8-1)
